David Deacon

Copywriter and Strategist

From film studies to day trading, David brings a unique range of experience and expertise to his work at Eye for Image. Currently working onsite at one of our financial services clients, David is using his extensive fiscal vocabulary to drive more traffic to the company’s regional sites.

Better rankings for local sites
To generate local traffic and build its regional presence, the client operates a number of local sites. But the sites were being penalized by Google in its rankings as each site’s content closely resembled the company’s main corporate site. So David is leading a sweeping project to make the content on five local sites unique in order to improve the company’s rankings in Google searches.

But the task is complicated. In order to ensure the sites generate hits, David must incorporate all relevant SEO keywords. And even though each site will use the same keywords, the copy needs to be varied to avoid the Google penalization. Once all the headings and summaries are complete on the local sites, David will turn his attention to the main corporate site to ensure that it’s also optimized for search engines.

Trading by day, film noir by night
David’s work as a day trader has been a huge asset in his current project. He’s been able to produce copy that has wide appeal, yet incorporates SEO keywords and financial terminology in a clear and easy-to-read style.

Getting the right message across isn’t new to David. As Media Relations Coordinator for the largest animation film festival in North America, the Ottawa International Animation Festival, David not only publicized the festival – he also promoted animation as a serious art form in all media channels.

Originally from Ottawa, Canada, David attended film school in the United States and went on to pen a popular television special for children. He now lives in Malmö, Sweden, where he continues to expand his knowledge of black and white cinema.
